When I was new on the grid, I stumbled into a store that had clothes that weren’t cheap (to an unemployed girl they weren’t). But – they were spectacular. And they were vastly different and BETTER than anything my blingtard friends were sporting.  I immediately fell in love with the possibilities of fashion here on the grid.

That store was then called X3D – and you know it now as Digit Darkes.

I’m wearing a new release from her that she put on sale the other day – the Andreas Dress, in Copper. Like all of her work- it’s stunning, front AND back.

Don’t you agree?

I have another announcement. This is my first pair of prim feet shoes.

These are from the good people at Kalnins. I am terribly intimidated by prim feet and the tinting involved even with their handy dandy HUD.  My problem is, I don’t want to WORK to be able to wear things. So – my only indictment isn’t of KALNINS shoes but of the entire prim feet style.  I do want to say that their HUD was reasonable easy to figure out, and it did take me about 10 minutes but I got it pretty close to right.

It almost seems like the prim shoe folk and the skinners should get together and make all of our lives easier. BUT, these were reasonably easy to figure out for a lazy girl like me AND – I liked the look of them with this sassy dress.

I suspect this means I’ll be breaking out some more of the pretty shoes Kalnin’s has sent me since I’m not afraid of them anymore.

I love this sweater. I have one like it in RL and it’s so warm and cozy. It’s my go-to-sweater for those fall events when the weather is just cool enough to need something, but not cold enough for a coat. It’s thick enough that I can wear it in the Oregon rain without getting wet. You don’t get wet when it rains all day and accumulates 2/hundredths of an inch, so it keeps me warm, dry and cozy. Now I have the perfect sweater for visiting those misty, rainy sims.

League Garage Jeans and J's Ankle Boots complete the relaxed casual mood of the outfit.

Here you can see how great the collar is. The 200 Peso choker from Steinwerk is an old favorites. The lovely short crop is from Mirai Style.

The prim work on the Acoustic Earrings from EarthStones is stunning and incredible. Equally stunning, the beautiful Elizabeth skin from Blowpop.

Okay, so the lyrics of Born to Be Wild should not be what I think of when wearing a vintage pencil skirt, sweater or a houndtooth trench coat, but guess what – they are.

But seriously, this clothing only sounds staid and sober. It looks hot and it is born to be wild.

The sweater and skirt are from Ingenue, part of her line of vintage wardrobe staples. The sweater comes on all layers and has cowl and shoulder prims. I did have to switch the cowl attachment point from spine to chest to accomodate the coat. The skirt is a system skirt with a highwaist provided on the shirt and jacket layers and glitch pants on all layers. This gives you all the flexibility you need to wear it however you need. I paired it with the Prestige boots from Bax Coen which give it the Born to Be Wild Edge.

The coat is the meticulously made by Shiryu Musashi of Musashi-Do. He’s a brave fellow tackling Houndstooth. I think just trying to line up the patters would give me a migraine. There are sleeve prims and a collar prim, but most strikingly, there are two options for the coat/belt prim. There’s a relative flat skirt which is what I am wearing – perfect for my pencil skirt. But, thinking more deeply about clothing that the usual creator, there is a second, fuller, wider coat prim to wear with fuller skirts such as artilleri’s circle skirt.  Now that is taking it to the next level.How often do coat designers think through how their coat will work with the dress underneath?

Here’s a closer look at the collar and the sweater collar together. I did have to shrink the sweater collar just a bit to fit inside the coat collar. This gives you a good look at the detail work so you can really appreciate how well made this is.

Those fun earring are from Uzuri – honestly I keep wanting to type Uriza and struggle to remember the name, but it’s a name worth remembering for the wonderful Africa-inspired jewelry they make. The hair is by Tiny Bird and named in honor of everyone’s favorite glampire. Yes, it’s the Winter hair from Tiny Bird. Isn’t it hot? Hot enough to melt the ice and snow, that’s for sure.

The makeup is the lusciously elegant and born to be wild July from PXL Creations.

I was headed to THE VELVET to dance my heart out with Cajsa during our friend Maht’s Sunday set when this great sweater dress was dropped on me from Linc. It comes in an array of colors and they’ve done a nice job with the skirt prim.

It was a nice Sunday afternoon kind of dress to club in. Plus it’s wintery cozy – I love the big oversized collar on it.  It would also look great with slacks (expect to see it that way!)

So I let my hair down and danced the afternoon away with Cajsa.

I’m wearing the Fishnet Tights from BLOWPOP which are great with this sweater dress.  Annyka did an awesome job creating them.

MDR Photo Studio had its 2nd Anniversary Party on Thursday night and they threw a Red Carpet party. It’s always fun to go to the parties where we get to really dress up and this party was full of beautifully dressed men and women in some luscious ball gowns. I had purchased this gown earlier this year and had not yet had a chance to wear it, so it was great to give it an outing as I really love the design.

With a sexy sheer back in the same fabric as the gloves and multiple skirt options (including shorter skirts)  it’s a fabulously flexible dress, but what really makes it special for me is the lovely fabric of flowers and leaves and the beautifully draped bodice and hips.

The jewelry is from J&W Jewelers and is just luscious. This particular design comes in many colors including one with amethyst and rubies. It’s really luxurious and fits beautifully.The lovely updo is from Cake, called Papercut.

The classically elegant makeup and skin are from Hart Larsson of PXL Creations – the new July skin.  Seriously, there’s nothing more elegant anywhere.

The hot Dance Darling dress by House of Hucci is sure to set the fellows agog as you shake it in this too too short dress.

Sexy without being revealing - it’s a hot club dress that is a must have if you like to be the sexiest girl in the room.

I paired it with a sleek style from EXILE – the Sally hair for a modern but very sexy look.

Idiosyncrasy’s Justice is a delightful skin that makes me think of the women you see in a de Lempicka painting. I love the rich, bold lipstick and eyeshadow and the strong look of this skin. It is a fundraiser skin for CARE International at the Skin Expo and a wonderful addition to any inventory.  I wore it with the multi-color jewelry from Bliensen & Maitai because it suited the lovely halter top I picked up at Different Drummer – a new to me store.

Different Drummer is the store right next to Gift Horse where I got the flu last week and I had to check it out when I saw the beautiful multi-color metallic halters. This lovely top comes in many colors. I chose the copper color and would have chosen even more if it had a tucked in option. It didn’t so I stuck with just one as I am not often going to wear midriff exposing tops. Still, I could not resist because it was just so darn pretty.

The gorgeous denim skirt is from elymode. Not that long ago, some anonymous coward posted a secret plurk criticizing elymode for only doing solid color clothing. Such a critique only exposes that person’s ignorance. For one, although this is a solid blue skirt, it’s not a solid blue texture. It’s a carefully detailed handdrawn fabric texture with the dark and light weave of denim. If you zoom in close, ever bit of it is detailed to give it the authentic look of denim. Add to that the meticulous shading and the perfect fit and position of the prims and the work quality cannot be questioned.

The hair is from Bishwear – called Elizabeth and really a fun style. It comes with a hud to change the gem stones in the hair band. The silver metal part of the band cannot be changed to another color, but the colored stones can.

One more peek at that skin just because it’s so luscious. I am loving that little mole on the bridge of the nose.

It all started with the hair. This damned hair that Cajsa has been flaunting from Exile…….I had to have it. As  Hannibal Lector taught us – WHAT do we Covet? That which we see every day. So eventually I broke down and bought it because OMG it’s big and floofy and FANTASTIC.

And then, I wanted a party dress to wear with such festive hair. I was completely thrilled to find a previously missed gorgeous retro styled dress from BOOM – that had been given away at the VIP Keys hunt a few months ago. She also has in the store MANY great dress options – I think this one might’ve been just for the hunt.

This festive party dress gave me an opportunity to break out some of my FAVORITE panty hose on the grid- from SHOP TOSHY. Check out the totally festive roses on the back and the seam – VERY nicely done. Toshy makes her product on all bottom layers-  pants, sock and underpants, so you can find a way to make them work with your dresses. She has a great selection.

Since I was previously trying to patronize everyone who so graciously GAVE to the VIP Hunt…..I went to Boom and had to buy……

….a gorgeously demure retrol styled bathing suit.

I slipped into the Antonia hair from Truth (don’t want to mess up my do while swimming).

And this dress is hot!  Now I have no idea why I have never seen Emelia Redgrave at a club because if there’s a designer that knows what a clubbing dress should look like, she’s the one! This is not the first and will not be the last of her amazingly hot and sexy clubbing dresses that I have worn. It’s a very complete outfit, too, including the hosiery and the bangles with perfect details like the lovely sash and cinch.

Let’s talk about hot details, look at that side zipper. And then the boots! These marvelous Bax Coen boots are just too hot for words. With the options available, I was able to make the heels match the gold dress accents which just adds to the appeal.

The Page hairstyle from 0 Style is also about as hot as they come. It’s so hot, it will melt your comb.

Then there is the the skin. The newest skin from Belleza is this marvelous Jesse. Like all the best skin creators, Tricky Boucher takes time to make a new skin and produces real works of art that are more than worth the wait. But don’t take my word for it, pop on over to Belleza or to the Skin Fair and check out a demo yourself and then you too can sing, “When you’re hot, you’re hot…”

Boudoir is a new-to-me store that features the work of a RL designer bringing her work into SL. Vitabela Dubrovna, as she is called in SL,  has some of her RL designs on display for you to see. The SL designs are not identical, but reflect similar design aesthetics. However, while visiting her store I bumped into her and saw that she is going beyond the possibilities of RL clothing by adding a rose petal emitter to a rose-petal festooned gown.  The dress shown here, though, is as comfortable in either world. A lovely pewtery gray dress with a beautifully ruffled skirt, Boutique’s Ruffles dress would be a delight for dancing or parties.

I opted for the old favorites from Storm Schmooz for the shoes and jewelry from Zaara and Lelutka. The hair is from 0 Style and the skin is the incomparable July from PXL. The pictures were taken at New York City – between the Public Library and the Statue of Liberty.  Just do a search for Statue of Liberty and you will find it easily.
