Mix It Up

Every fashionista should have a few highwaisted skirts in her inventory and you can get great ones from many places including MichaMi, Pixel Dolls and literally dozens of stores. The reason to have them is that they are great to toss into the mix when you want to take a top from a dress, jacket or suit and use it in a new way. For example, this jacket from Silent Sparrow comes from an pants outfit and is part of a long jacket with tails. I wasn’t in the mood for tails, but I was just loving the autumn feel of the jacket – and decided it would be a blouse for the day…and all it took was adding a skirt that would tuck it in. And so was able to enjoy the rich texture and intricate details of this gorgeous top – in a new way.

This skirt happens to be from Little Rebel – a long-time favorite store. Sadly, it’s been closed for some time. However, this is an effect that can be achieved with skirts from Ingenue, Artilleri and the others I mentioned above. The boots are from League and I love the way the buttons echo the details of the blouse.

Fab hair from Lelutka finishes the look. The style is called Heidi and is a delight. The earrings are from Primagine – one of the cleverest store names there is and the designer, Trixie Bumbo, is a delight.

This skin is called Lisa and is from Mayden Couture, a completely new store to me. I like the bold use of strong saturated colors and the heavier than usual hand on the blush. It’s a very editorial makeup and we all should have a few high-fashion makeups in our bag of tricks.
